PROJECTS - DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT
There are various important things to consider when planning to develop a project, amongst them:

THE NEED: What is the idea? What are we trying to achieve? How do we know there is a need for it? Have we checked the views of interested parties?

THE AIM; How practicable is it? What methods should be used to achieve our aim?

BUSINESS PLAN; Is there a Business Plan for your organisation already in existence? If so, how does it have to be amended? If not, how easy will it be to develop one? Can we get help from others to write it?

FUNDING/RESOURCES; What resources will be needed? How much will be needed? Have we checked/How easily can we check the funding required? Who might provide the funding? Local or national sources? Do we need a single funder or a variety of funder’s?

SKILLS; What skills are needed? Are these available already? Is training required? Can the CVS provide the training or can they find a suitable course for our organisation?

STARTING DATE; When can the project realistically begin? Are paid staff required? How many? How easy will they be to find (and attract0? How many volunteers will also be needed? How do we attract them? Can the Volunteer Centre help us to find them?

MANAGEMENT; Who will be in charge of the day-to-day project work? Is this person already in post?

VONEF will help you plan your project and seek funding to run it. It can also advise you on managing it. If you need help from volunteers, register with the Volunteer Centre. Both sources of help are free of charge if yours is a voluntary organisation or a not-for-profit business.
