Have your say on the way forward for rural Scotland's Village Halls

With the support of the Scottish Government, SCVO is organising a major event for everyone involved in running, supporting and finding rural Scotland's village halls.

Its for Hall Committee members - those hardworking community leaders and activists who manage these vital community assets.

And it's for representatives of the organisations that can provide the advice, support and hard cash to help sustain, maintain and develop them for future generations.

The programme also features a presentation entitled A Brief History of Village Halls, case studies illustrating the challenges and successes faced by the people who manage village halls, a presentation on the new funding available under the Scottish Rural Development Programme.

At the heart of the event will be a series of facilitated discussion sessions allowing those involved in running rural Scotland's village halls to have their say on the challenges they face and to tell the funders and politicians what needs to be done to develop and sustain them.

This will be followed by a panel discussion with senior representatives of bodies involved in the funding and support of village halls, addressing the issues identified in the earlier session.

The event is free and a high turnout is expected. The number of places is limited, so it is essential that you book early. Assistance with essential travel and accommodation expenses will be available where required for representatives of Hall Committees and other small community-based voluntary organisation.
