Sporting cheer - Since launching the Sport Relief grants programme in Scotland in February this year, the Scottish Community Foundation has made 40 awards to groups all over Scotland, distributing over £100,000.
Grants range from £724 to Fife Canoeing Activities Group to provide a kayaking day for families from Rachel House hospice to £5,000 awarded to Bridg'it Venture near Inverness to help young adults with learning difficulties access equestrian activities and local sports facilities for a year.

Lottery money worth £275m is to be invested in Scotland's communities over the next three years by the Big Lottery Fund (BLF).
Investing In Communities, with four investment areas, will be launched in spring 2006. The four themes are: Growing Community Assets (£50million), building on the work of the Scottish Land Fund; Life Transitions (£35 million), helping people deal with growing up, growing old, moving out and moving on; Supporting 21st Century Life (£35 million), dealing with fast moving societal change; and Dynamic Inclusive Communities (£20 million) will fund improvements to the capacity and infrastructure of national, intermediary or second tier organisations.

Lloyds TSB Foundation 21st Birthday Bash

Outline of the scheme - The 21st birthday awards programme consists of two elements each taking place in 15 areas of Scotland:

funding of £21,000 for a community project that meets the criteria below;

hosting a community event to celebrate the community, the project and our birthday.

The criteria
reducing barriers and encouraging integration between different people; increasing understanding between different sections of the local community; involving diverse groups working together; offering opportunities for people to contribute to their community;
providing facilities for the community.

Applications should be in by 31st January 2006.
