Foneaid – Raising Funds for your Organisation
FoneAid Fundraising Campaign – Mobile Phone Recycling
FoneAid is a fantastic fundraising initiative, which will help you raise
money for anything that your voluntary organisation needs.
It is brought to you by the
team behind Fones4Schools, the school fundraiser that has now raised
over £1 million for participants.
The concept of FoneAid is
very simple, but it delivers big rewards for anyone looking to raise
money. All you need to do is collect mobile phones
of any age and condition and in return you’ll receive £3.00
per phone. On top of this, we will donate £100.00 worth of vouchers
for every 100 phones collected, so making money for your organisation
couldn’t be easier.
FoneAid guarantee that every phone is either reused in developing countries
or recycled. In addition 100% of the phones collected are diverted from
landfill sites where they can cause serious environmental problems. The
campaign is completely free to participate in, as we provide all the
promotional material and even courier the phones back to our warehouse
at the end of the campaign.
Simply register your organisations’ details on the website www.foneaid.org.uk,
or call our team on 01625 667867, and we’ll send you all the materials
needed to run your collection. Use the posters and collection bags to
advertise your campaign and collect as many old mobile phones as possible.
Even if the phones don’t work and are in a poor condition, FoneAid
will still donate £3.00 to your organisation for every single one
of them!
With around 100 million old and unused mobile phones lying around homes
in the UK and no cost to take part why don’t you start collecting
today?

Rural Development Small Awards Fund
The RDSAF is an interim pilot programme which aims to support community groups
looking for a small sum of money (£500 to £5,000) on a one-off
basis. As attendees at the Rural Think Tank event discovered, there is an
underspend for this, the final year of funding and the Rural team at the
Executive are keen to see more applications coming in over the next couple
of months. The fund can offer support for: activities relating to project
planning; maximising community involvement; capacity building; consultation
exercises; gathering of local ideas. Applicants are encouraged to be creative
when considering what their community requires. Previous awards have been
granted for village hall kitchen/catering equipment, tables & chairs,
feasibility studies and multi-media supports. Further information is available
on the Rural Development area of the Scottish Executive website. Alternatively,
the RDSAF team can be contacted by e-mail or on 0131 244 3885.
“McIntosh and The Daily Record have
recently come together to launch the ‘Changing Lives’ Campaign,
which is set to support life enhancing, worthwhile projects across
Scotland. As makers of traditional
Scottish food made for today McIntosh believe this carries a certain
amount of social responsibility and they are firmly committed to supporting
Scottish communities in any way they can.
Each week the Changing Lives campaign will award bursaries to community
projects which have a real impact on the quality of life in their community,
such as
purchasing toys for a local nursery, funding facilities for an OAP’s
club or grants for a youth arts project.
So if you know of any community projects or groups that would benefit greatly
from a helping hand, McIntosh is inviting you to apply for a bursary from the ‘Changing
Lives’ Campaign and explain how much would be required to make a difference.
Amounts awarded will vary – and even a small sum can be enough to enhance
enjoyment of life for certain groups.
The Daily Record & McIntosh “Changing Lives” Campaign will
run until April 6. Bursaries will be awarded on a weekly basis and decisions
are made according to each individual application. Potential beneficiaries
are urged to apply soon by visiting www.strathmore-foods.com where they can
download the application form and post to Anna Howatson, Changing Lives Campaign,
Denvir Marketing, Craigarnhall, Bridge of Allan, Stirling FK9 4NG

CAR BOOT SALE
Would your organisation like the opportunity to raise some extra funds at a
large-scale car boot sale?
The Douglas Bader Community Garden group and VONEF are planning to team up
to organise a major fundraiser in Cupar this summer. Held in the car park at
Bell Baxter school, the car boot sale could provide a major opportunity for
groups to turn their brick a brac into cash.
Voluntary and community organisations are being offered the opportunity to
take a slot at the event at HALF the going rate. Groups that book a car space
at the event in advance will get a 50 per cent price reduction: £4 per
car instead of £8. Larger scale vehicles will cost £5 per vehicle
instead of £10, while vans will cost £10 instead of £20.
The car boot sale will be held in the open air, and we are examining Saturday
dates in August as possibilities. The event would start at 10 am and finish
at 1 pm - vehicles would have to be in position by 9.30 am.
In order to judge the potential interest, we would ask you simply to email
us back to let us know if you would be interested, and how many vehicles you
might utilise at the event. Please be assured we won’t hold you to it – we
are simply seeking a rough indication of interest before we finalise details.
As well as being a great method of raising funds, the event will also let you
get your group’s message over to the general public. Teas, coffees, soft
drinks, and snacks will also be available on the day.
To register an interest or to make any suggestions or comments, please email:
