Deaf Blind Scotland are running two fundraising events: The first "Just Try It" on 20th April 2008 at Strathclyde Park. It's not a run - it's a walk. It's not a race - its more a life-changing experience. Its suitable for all ages and fitness levels and may be of interest to a range of people. More traditionally, we have out 10k/5k event on 10th May in Bishopbriggs. A weekend of celebrating music, art and creativity, campioning the work the environmental movement and those concerned with the conservation of the living world. Exhibitors and Traders are welcome to mount displays and should take advantage of the Early Bird discount by booking before 30th April 2008. The Big Tent Event is also looking for volunteers for help with: Stewarding; selling tickets; setting up and dismantling; visitor evaluations; help with the schools programme; helping with workshops; decorating the tents; dignage; distributing flyers. Volunteers will get a free pass into the festival and will be provided with food and drink vouchers as well as training where required. The Scottish Executive have set up a team to bring together a year of events in 2009 to promote tourism, change perceptions and make a real difference to the economy. They would like young people to submit an essay of no more than 1000 words on the subject of disability. Entries should be submitted by 2nd May 2008, with the winner accunced during June 08.
